Queensland 2001

Deb1, Richo, Deb2 and I made this 5000km, 2 week journey to the Gold Coast via Cobar (and 1.5km under it with Greggy), Bourke (we actually took a left and hit the dirt track "Back of Burke" if there was any doubt we journeyed through outback) and back via Nymbin (just looking), Byron Bay, Tumut (where?) and the snow.  The General did a proud job, with tyre on roof to save space.  Space was pretty tight in the back seat, so Richo and Deb2 shared the remaining 1 seat between them.  Luckily they were very good friends, as it looked pretty cosy back there.

Crossing the snow was a pissa.  I drove from Cooma to Tumut across the snowys without snow chains, on a day when they got the heaviest snowfalls that season.  The snow on the road was about 2 inches thick, no lines, and it snowed constantly the whole time.  You could spin the wheels at 60 and not move (I tried it).
