South
Australia 2002
We
returned to the beaches at South Australia in January 2002.
Richo, Deb1, Deb2, Chris, Doug and probably someone else headed over for
some fun in the sun and some beach riding.
Highlights
were listening to the cricket all day on the beach during fishing and beach
cricket and lots of drinking.
The
beach riding was amazing.
We rode 300km in one day, absolutely rooted by the end of it, but it was
worth it.
Jumping over natural sand cusps at 40-60 km / hour, stopping to admire
seals, sections of beach made up entirely of broken shell, and hot chicks who
liked the form of tough blokes on motorbikes was all part of the fun.
Some flatter sections we could do 100 km / hour, that was cool.
On softer or wetter sand, the speed dropped back to 40 -60 in places.
The bikes ran at about 7 Litres per 100km, which is exactly the same as a
new VX commodore on the highway.
Shifting the sand makes them pretty thirsty.
